iPhone Develop Program Application Approved!

September 9th, 2008 · View Comments · development, mobile

Well it certainly has been an interesting day for all things Apple. The anticipation that accompanies any Apple announcement seems to grow each time. Unfortunately there were no game changing announcements at Lets Rock, which primarily delivered evolutions across the iPod line, and my wait must continue for the long-rumored aluminium multi-touch MacBook. Expectations are set so high for Apple that the share price fell by 4% after the event!

There was no room from disappointment however, since literally just a couple of hours prior to the Lets Rock event I received a call from a cheerful Apple representative who informed me that the Total Hotspots application has been approved. This post is a follow up to my previous observations about the iPhone Developer Program application process. At that point I was slightly concerned about the prospect of waiting a long time for an answer. Despite the overwhelming popularity of the iPhone Developer Program, it only took a little over 6 weeks to hear the result of our application. If you recently submitted an application or are planning to do so, then there shouldn’t be any cause for concern – Apple do seem to have it under control.

Today is was also announced that 100,000,000 iPhone apps have already been downloaded from the App Store, surly making it among the fertile ground for mobile developers right now.

Fortunately we can now proceed with the bulk of the development process. More details will follow soon and a selection of registered Total Hotspots members will be given the first chance to preview what should be an extremely useful new tool for mobile computing.
